i didnt really like it.
I think that if you are into literature than you might like this book but I think that it wasnt as great as my professor said it was going to be

Hard 2 understand
I read this book for OAC english. It is very hard to understand when Darl Narrates. Other than that it is a well written novel.
Knibb high football rules

i enjoyed this book
i love the way willian faulkner wrote this book,u get each characters own thoughts, and personal expierences of the adventure this family went through. In the begining of the book, i guess it was because theyre were so many diferent nerators, it was kind of confusing, and hard to get into. But as i progressed through the book i found myself not being able to put the book down in curiosity of what would lie before me in the folowing chapters. i dont read much but i enjoyed this book.

Spanish Now!: Level 2

Life-long Spanish student
I have used Barron's Educational Series' materials ever since junior high and up through graduate school teaching undergraduate Spanish. Spanish Now!: Level 2 is a good supplementary text. I have written a review to Barron's of 11-pages' length wherein I have detailed some grammar mistakes and other points to be improved. Let it be said that almost every textbook or dictionary is necessarily a work in progress. With that said, Barron's/Kendris commit horrible errors when it comes to the constituency of the Spanish alphabet post-1994 reforms. The alphabet consisted of 29 letters before the reform, and 29 letters after the reform. There are other minor accent mark and spelling errors in the work and I hope Barron's will improve the next edition/printing when it comes out. This is still a worthwhile book for intermediate students of Spanish.

Straightforward
Spanish Now! presents its information in straight no-nonsense way that I like. The lessons are clear and easy to understand.

Each lesson begins with a reading passage showing the use of the vocabulary words presented. The grammatical lessons that follow are clear. The author doesn't "hide" the information in the text somewhere; it is presented up-front.

Some people may find the format boring. It is a little dry, but it makes Spanish easy to learn because the author doesn't try to "sneak" any information in with clever games. I like the format, myself.

This book is a great way to learn Spanish.

Spanish Now! level 2
I know several students that are using this book for private lessons ,and they found it extremely useful. They can use at home or in class, there is no tricks, the chart table for irregular verbs is great! Also the brief explanation of each issue in alphabetical order at the end of the book ,is an excellent source. The exercises in each Unit enhance the learning process. I strongly recommend this book( level 2) for intermediate students.Congratulations to the author!.Please, publish, Spanish Now! level 3!.

How to Prepare for the T.O.E.F.L.: Test of English As a Foreign Language (Barron's How to Prepare for the Test of English As a Foreign Language T.O.E.F.L)

OUTDATED
1)The problems in the book are very outdated. (for grammar section buy Cliff's or Longman)
2)The problems in the book are less difficult than those on a real exam.
3)The problems in the book were arranged in very boring manner.
4)The CD-Rom is only for Listening. (for more computer practice buy Delta's Key for Toefl Test with CD, which has 10 tests or Cambridge Preparation for Toefl Test, which has 7 tests. Both books have CD-Rom simulated CBT.)
5) The Essay section is fair. (for the best essay section buy Cambridge Preparation for the Toefl Test)
Generally, there is no one book for the preparation for the TOEFL. Most likely you will need some combination of them.
For instance,
a) Delta for practice and reading. Moreover, you may wish to buy just Delta CD Rom without book and cassets for practice only;
b)Cliff's or Longman for grammar;
c)Cambridge for essay and for practice.
Good luck!

The best Toefl grammar book, but....
The only worth section of this book is the Grammar section. Even if you were at intermediate English-level, you'll improve up to Advanced student. The small details are very helpful to determine test tricks, and common rules - to correct them. So, if you want 600 and more, read it carefully and then review it one more time. But, you'll need another source for practice. Its tests are easier than on actual test( I did 100% on Barron's grammar, but scored 630 on actual test). Not worth to spend time on listening or reading. It would be better to do listening on TOEFL Preparation Kit and reading on Cambridge's or Peterson's TOEFL.

...this is the best TOEFL preparation book out there...
A lot of my friends recommended this book for me, but I didn't really appreciate their advice until I took the test. The book leads you step-by-step into establishing a good base of English for the test, or at least refresh the knowledge that you already have. I believe that I owe a significant portion of my 287 CBT (660 paper based equivalent) score to this book. With it's eight model tests on the CD, which are far more difficult than that in the actual test, you'll be well prepared. There seems to be a problem with the Adaptive Test in the CD though, it gives quite strange scores at the end, but overall, this book is the best book that you can buy to get the score that you want in TOEFL.

Barron's How to Prepare for Sat II: American History and Social Studies (10th Ed)
Published in Paperback by Barrons Educational Series (July, 1998)
Authors: David A. Midgley and Phillip Lefton
Average review score:

Not Highly Recommended
This book contained a satisfactory review of American History and multiple practice tests. However, the questions on the practice tests were WAY out of line compared to the actual questions on the test. I took one practice tests that had about 1/4 of the questions on farm and labor history, while there were only about 2 questions about farm and labor history on the actual test. I consistently got about half of the questions right on the practice tests, yet I got a 770 on the actual SAT II. This book needlessly panicked me and there must be a better choice.

Comprehensive Review, Political slant after 20C, too hard.
The history review section is very well organized, in presidential order, and is comprehensive: I used this book to study without taking a single course in US government and history and still got a score in the mid 700s.
However, as the book goes into the 20th century it gives a colored view of history. The Princeton Review represents both liberal and conservative view points such as on where the New Deal succeeded and failed, while Barons plunges on with no such commentary. While it was irrelevant(only a handful of questions come from the second half of the 20th century) I was really irritated time to time after 1960. Also, one of the ruling themes of the 90's-Clinton's scandals and corruption-was down played in a few short paragraphs.
And it goes without saying that Barons constantly strives and acheives, in all subjects, the status of 'Most Difficult SAT2 Test Maker'.(-not a good thing)
Study this book up to WW1 and go over another publisher's prep book.

Book Seems Rather Hard
I took the AP US history exam last year and received 5. Now for the fall I plan on taking the SAT II, so I bought the book and took the diagnostic test and got more than half wrong, the questions seemed impertinent to american history and ambiguous. But the book does cover the topic in depth and the summary is helpful. Don't feel dejected when doing poorly on the tests.

Barron's How to Prepare for the Ap English Advanced Placement Examinations: Literature and Composition, Language and Composition (Barron's How to pre
Published in Paperback by Barrons Educational Series (January, 2004)
Author: George Ehrenhaft
Average review score:

where is the review?
I will admit that this book has plenty of prectice questions and sample essays, but when it comes down to the line and you need to review...it's hopeless! There are no summaries, and no information. Each chapter has a short one page history of the time that explains stuff to you that you learned in first grade, then it is followed by 25 pages of questions. This would be a good seorce for more practice questions, but if you're looking for something that will help you through, I would recomend The AP US History book made by the Research and Education Association (REA)...not only is it 50 times thicker and full of information, but it also has a CD with timed tests you can take on your computer...now that's cool!

Dissapointed
My teacher told us to pick up a test prep guide book, and that's what I went to the library to do. However, once I flipped through the book I was dissapointed to find nothing but sample essay respones and questions. This is good if that's what your looking for, however I want more subject review. I would reccommend AP Success English Literature and Composition by Peterson's instead.

Good Guide
Just like with the Princeton Review, I have no idea why anyone would say that this is a horrible book. I would've loved to have had it when I was in high school, though I ended up getting a 4 anyway. I have taught AP for five years, and this is VERY comprehensive. My favorite part about it is that it has something for everyone. There are sample tests if you'd like to take them, as well as a lengthy list of terms and capsule reviews of many great works of literature. You should buy this book. I made a four-page review guide for my class that will definitely translate into higher scores.
When the worst you can say about something is that it has "too much information," it's obviously not very flawed. After all, it's not intended to be read in an hour by a high school student with a short attention span.

CliffsNotes The Crucible
Published in Digital by Hungry Minds ()
Author: Jennifer L. Scheidt
Average review score:

Ugh
How can anyone find this confusing? This is a pretty simple work, and I find it difficult to believe that anyone can be confused as to what it's about. And why would you need Cliff Notes for this?

In any event, my problem with this play is that its just too simple: not enough meat and the characters aren't all that interesting. Yes, it shows us how narrow-minded the Puritans were. It's also an allegory for McCarthyism, for those of you who don't know. But do we really need this play to point out what it tells us about human nature? I personally find it overly long and overly dull for what it's trying to convey.

interesting
i was required to read this book for an english class, and am glad i did, because it really made one think about how narrow minded the puritans were and how that really brought on the hangings of the so called witches. this is definately a book to read.

my opinion
this is a great piece of art by arthur miller. he catches your attention with the lies and injustices of the 1600's. this is a good book because of it's content. the speech is, as it was in that time. it tells a tale of a little girl who gets caught being "naughty" and blames it on the circumstances of those she doesn't like or has problems with. this book teaches that to lie about something that could have been small makes it much larger and much more complicated to deal with. the girl in this this book is in witchcraft and is caught dancing naked in the woods by her uncle who is the reverend. with her are two other girls, a servant, and a cousin. the town is brought down to a level where every one is accusing every one else for past happeneings. farmowners are accusing neighbors of it so that the land is auctioned off at low prices so that they can increase the quality of their own land. it becomes a big issue when it could have been solved completely with a simple confession. the subject is blown out of proportion and it destryos a lot of lives and families. the truth is finally found after nine-teen people are hanged for the crime of witchcraft. i reccomend this book to anyone who enjoys "a good book".

Chemistry (Cliffs AP)
Published in Paperback by Cliffs Notes (March, 2001)
Author: Gary S. Thorpe
Average review score:

Not Useful at All
This book is completely useless. Basically it is a formula sheet on recycled paper. Don't let fancy colors fool you, there is nothing in this book. Apart from the lab sections and the reactions sections, this book falls flat on its face when it comes to conceptual questions, (which the AP Exam deals a lot with). Not worth the money.

Not what I would expect from Cliffs
I would only buy this book to supplement the Barron's AP Chemistry prep book. It really doesn't have any reading material on any of the subjects. It presents everything in bullet form and just lists the equations and key words. No explanations here. Plus the answers and work to the practice problems are shown right below the question, which I did not like. I did use it as a quick reference guide for qualitative analysis stuff, and the effects of ions on the pH of solutions. I used it to review for electrochem also. Some people like the extensive lab chapter, but I didn't really look at it. If I ever forgot the equation for something or needed to look something simple up I would go straight to the Cliffs AP. But for more in depth studying or preparing for tests, I would use the Barron's. I got a 5 and owe it more to the Barron's book then the Cliffs.

Perfect supplement for Textbook or Barrons
The best part about this book is that it teaches the reader 'to the test'. For example, it has a specific section devoted to the Writing Reactions part of the test, along with all essential labs. Every section has accurate sample AP questions, multiple choice and free response. Barrons lacks all of these previous elements, but Barrons reviews comprehensively. On the other hand, Cliffs barely reviews: each chapter has at most 2 pages of formulas and/or basic concepts. This makes Cliffs a perfect supplement to the Barrons.

Miller's Death of a Salesman (Cliffs Notes)
Published in Paperback by Cliffs Notes (February, 1982)
Authors: Nancy E. Gerou and James L. Roberts
Average review score:

A book that had a confusing plot summary
I believe that English teachers should make a list of books that teenagers could understand without having to rely on cheat sources. My advice to you would be to choose books that you can understand easily without driving yourself crazy while writting your critical analysis. Death of a Salesman is not one of those books that can be easily understood, in my opinion.

Extraordinary for those who comprehend
For all you who have heard that this play is hard to follow, I would not disagree. Yet despite the difficult comprehension, Miller does an excellent job in relation to the characters' psyche. There is a much deeper meaning to this work. It explores the never ending chain of the importance of family. A must for all whose family is a little distant among each other. Touching, moving, extraordinary.

A poignant, moving work...one of the all time greatest!
I read this play in one evening. At times I found it hard to follow, but I REALLY enjoyed it. Soon after I rented the movie with Dustin Hoffman which solidified the story in my mind and moved me to tears. A very compelling story.

Accounting (Barron's Business Review Series)
Published in Paperback by Barrons Educational Series (September, 1994)
Author: Peter J. Eisen
Average review score:

Great book--useful overiview of accounting.
After reading other "overview" books, this one Ifound to be the most effective. Eisen gives an excellent breakdown ofmajor accounting concepts. He gives enough detail to explain concepts in a pratical manner yet still handles every major area I needed information on; he's comprehensive yet still concise. Information about the chart of accounts, general ledger, journal, sales transactions, costs, etc. were all explained with the assumption the reader is a beginner without treating the reader like an idiot. I'm glad I found this book.

Very Helpful
This book helps in clearing up tough concepts discussed in more bloated college texts. Therefore, this is a perfect supplement to anyone in Accounting I. The examples and explanations are easy to understand and the illustrations are helpful.

Excellent Introductory Text
I learned the principles of accounting in a week using this book. These are the things I like about it:

1. Copious examples
2. Small in size and inexpensive
3. Explains accounting from a manual perspective (ie does not assume that you have Quickbooks, etc). That way you get to learn the underlying principles better
4. Covers all the bases in an introductory course

I would highly recommend this to individuals that want to learn accounting. This is an excellent first book. Keep in mind that once you have mastered the basics from this book, you will want to go to other more advanced texts.
